Hello everybody. If you're an American, you should know that it is a great day to yell at your representatives about the illegal grant disbursement hold going on right now. As of this post the soonest they are going to meet on this thing they admit is an emergency is tomorrow. I know my emergencies can't wait that long! Anyway, calling your reps only takes a few minutes and overloading them with calls can be quite effective!

If you need help finding numbers to call, look here. Make sure to call ONLY your senators and representative.

Don't know what to say? Celeste Pewter has written a nice script here on Bluesky. Just say something! It really only takes a few minutes from your day!

Also, anything else the government is doing getting you down? Call your reps early and often. At the very least yelling at them is cathartic. Let them know they're doing a shit job. That's your job.

I'm still processing stuff but one thing you can do if you're queer* or otherwise marginalized is start archiving media that is important to you and represents you. This means physically having books, disks, etc, or for digital media at least having a copy/copies saved locally. If you see stuff you like, like fanfiction or art, SAVE IT at the very least!

On social media sites, where possible, you may want to back up your entries. Dreamwidth allows you to do this with their Export Journal feature. I know Twitter has an export feature as well, but it takes a while. Also, get off twitter, while you're at it.

I am sure everyone has their own ideas of what to do but this one at least is easy.

*You should probably start doing this no matter who you are as a lot of chuds are mad about women and minorities getting any screen time whatsoever, but there's a straight line between people deciding even the most desexualized queer media is "sexual/obscene content" and wanting to ban "pornography".

Well, today I was at therapy and we were figuring out our schedule for the next month or so, and I realized that my next appointment is on US election day, so that's terrifying.

I've finished reading all 10 novels for this year, but I do not have a write up for them yet, I am working on it. Right now my thoughts are, I am not sure if I'm going to read any more novels this year. Probably, because there's still two months left, but also I feel like I have a lot of non-fiction and short readings to catch up on, so maybe not. Next year, I'm thinking of maybe going for twelve novels?

I saw a production of a play version of Frankenstein and it makes me very curious about the version that Mary Shelley saw before she did her rewrites. It also makes me wonder if I should hurry up and make my own interpretation because it does seem new compared to most interpretations.

I am also maybe starting to get into zines? If I find any interesting ones online I may post them here, though a linklist for online zines seems like something I'd put on my static site. I have been thinking of making my own, but it may not end up a zine. It's something about how moderation on the internet is the secret sauce that holds everything together and people don't realize it and it's why we can't have nice things and why we can't seem to "go back" to a simpler internet. But it may be too long or meandering to make a proper zine, I don't know.

I am also, well, still working on the same science fiction novel. Who knows how that will go.

I received my postcards to send to Dem voters in swing states a few days ago. I have been sick so I only got to starting them today, and managed to get 25 written. So, that's 1/8th of the way done for me!

If you're in the US and interested in sending postcards to voters to keep Trump out of office here's a link to the site Postcards to Swing States. If I recall correctly the minimum postcards to order is 200 and you have to pay for the postcard stamps but it's probably one of the easier things to do to help the election.
