That's a great little minizine. The internet used to be more fun for all those reasons- individual blogs; it didn't follow you around in your pocket; people had no way of arguing 24/7.

I don't use my phone much for the internet, just to play games on; use the calendar; set reminders for myself. Seems I subconsciously knew it would make it less fun.

I love to argue -- for better or worse, it is in my blood. Having an argument machine in my pocket is like, waaaaay too much of a temptation, honestly.

I think I went through phases- the internet was fun, then it was full of people arguing and I got pulled into arguments, then I lost interest in all that and moved on. I like the quiet life 😋 I joined the Fediverse, that's much more nice and friendly.🐘

I’m fairly young, so fast-paced socmed has been prominent most of my conscious life, but I really only used it to talk to my friends until the last years of highschool. Probably the best decision I made lol. Anything that I knew about Tumblr/Twitter/Insta was all secondhand.

Even now, I don’t really use it to engage in much beyond following artists. There was a period where I was a bit more inflammatory, but it was still on ‘less’ active sites, and I got tired of it quickly because it made me so stressed.

And, well, the lack of site/account customisation does take a lot of the fun out of most socmed. What does it matter if I post something if I can’t make it look nice? If all I can do is post simple messages, I might as well just text my friends.
