Whenever I try to post a link in a comment, it appends the whole journal URL to the URL I used to create the link, instead of going directly to the linked page. I don’t remember this ever being an issue before? Did something break, or am I doing something wrong?

Just saw this wandering past - sometimes that can happen if you've not put the entire link, so make sure you've included the https:// at the beginning for instance. If that doesn't fix it, put an example in a reply to this comment and I'll see if I can spot any other issues!

I think I can see the problem - your "broken link" example has curly quotes in it instead of straight ones, which I suspect is causing DW not to realise that it is a proper link. Are you copying & pasting from Microsoft Word or something similar? Try posting a link in a reply to this comment but switching out the quote marks for the regular kind, and see if that fixes it.

Haha this is just cursed!

OK so the syntax should be exactly:

< a href="https://grayestofghosts.dreamwidth.org/">Journal Link</ a>

(only without the space in front of the a each time) just to confirm.

When I copied your "journal link" above, and pasted it in, it's showing up as:

https://www.dreamwidth.org/%E2%80%9Chttps://grayestofghosts.dreamwidth.org/%E2%80%9D

Which still looks like it's the quotes it doesn't like, even though they're not curly this time. I think it must be something to do with how your phone is handling the quotes.

Can you try in a different web browser / on another computer / etc to see if that fixes it?

PS: I found this link on how to turn off smart punctuation on an iphone - maybe try that and see if it fixes the issue? You can turn it back on again afterwards if you want, but at least you can rule it in/out as a thing!

Yep, that works! Maybe an update / setting change / something, who knows. But that should give you a workaround, at least.
